Eric Spooner, M.D.

Dr. Eric Spooner retired after almost 40 years as a Pediatric Cardiologist in Albany on 03/31/16.  Dr. Spooner is looking forward having more time to enjoy his family which includes three grandchildren.  He will certainly miss his many patients.  Drs. Velvis, Kamenir, Doyle, and Colon will continue the excellent care that Dr. Spooner has always provided.

 

Harm Velvis, M.D.

Born in the Netherlands, Dr. Harm Velvis received his medical degree from the State University of Groningen in the Netherlands in 1980.

He completed his pediatric residency at Albany Medical Center in 1987 and his pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco in 1990.

Prior to joining Capital District Pediatric Cardiology Associates in1996, Dr. Velvis was a pediatric cardiologist at Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Dr. Velvis is board certified in pediatric cardiology. He has special interests in interventional and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations for congenital heart disease and heart disease in Down syndrome.

Dr. Velvis is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Albany Medical College.

Steven Kamenir, M.D.

Born in Ohio, Dr. Steven Kamenir received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1990.

He completed his pediatric residency at Case Western Reserve University in 1993 and his pediatric cardiology fellowship at Harvard University’s Boston Children’s Hospital in 1997.

Prior to joining Capital District Pediatric Cardiology Associates in 2001, Dr. Kamenir was a pediatric cardiologist at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.

Dr. Kamenir is board certified in pediatric cardiology and pediatrics. He has special interests in fetal cardiology and trans-thoracic, trans-esophageal, and fetal echocardiography.

Dr. Kamenir is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of the Section of Pediatric Cardiology at Albany Medical College.

Robin Doyle, M.D.

Born in New Jersey, Dr. Robin Doyle received his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Rutgers College in 1995 and his medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in 2000.

He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and pediatrics at Christiana Care Health System in Delaware in 2004 and his pediatric cardiology fellowship at Yale University in 2007 with advanced training in congenital cardiac MRI at Texas Children's Hospital.

Dr. Doyle is board certified in pediatric cardiology, pediatrics, and internal medicine. He has special interests in echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and adult congenital heart disease.

Dr. Doyle is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Albany Medical College.

Michael Colon, M.D.

Born in New Jersey, Dr. Michael Colon received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Siena College in 1999. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 2003.

He completed his pediatric residency (including a year as chief pediatric resident) and his pediatric cardiology fellowship at Yale University in 2010.

Dr. Colon is board certified in pediatric cardiology and pediatrics. He has special interests in fetal echocardiography, preventive pediatric cardiology, and quality improvement.

Dr. Colon is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Albany Medical College.
